AC Milan, one of the top teams in Serie A, has signed Ruben Loftus-Cheek on a four-year contract worth €21 million. The announcement was made by Milan on Friday, and the 27-year-old midfielder is expected to earn €4 million per season.
Loftus-Cheek received his football training at Chelsea’s youth academy and made his professional debut for the club in 2014. During his time at Chelsea, he played in 155 matches, scoring 13 goals. He also had loan spells at Crystal Palace and Fulham.
Following the departure of players like N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, Kai Havertz, and Kalidou Koulibaly, Loftus-Cheek becomes the latest Chelsea player to leave the club in this transfer window.
This move to Milan holds significant importance for both Loftus-Cheek and the club. For Loftus-Cheek, it provides an opportunity to experience football outside of England after spending seven years at Chelsea. He aims to secure a regular spot in AC Milan’s starting lineup and contribute to their challenge for the Serie A title. Additionally, he will reunite with his former teammate, Fikayo Tomori.
Loftus-Cheek’s addition to Milan’s squad strengthens their midfield, providing competition for places and giving manager Stefano Pioli more options in that area of the field. Milan supporters are hopeful that he can assist the team in achieving their goals in the upcoming season.
