Manchester United’s goalkeeper, David de Gea, has announced his departure from the club. In a detailed statement shared on his Twitter account on Saturday afternoon, the Spanish player affirmed that he believes it is the appropriate moment to embark on a fresh challenge. Speculation had been mounting regarding the renewal of his contract, which expired last Friday, and it seemed increasingly unlikely that an agreement would be reached. Consequently, Manchester United has initiated the search for a replacement and has identified Andre Onana as the preferred candidate. The football director, John Murtough, is currently engaged in negotiations with Inter Milan to explore the possibility of securing the 27-year-old as De Gea’s successor.
